In Memory of my House Hunting Hound and best friend

He Is God's Huntin' Dog Now.

Many of you know and loved my best buddy
and "House Hunting Hound"; my Basset Hound Clyde.
Thank you for welcoming us into your homes and your hearts.
He was such a goofball that you just had to love him.

Clyde passed away very early this morning after a short illness (April 15th).  Actually, he was so good natured, that it is hard to tell exactly how long he had been sick.  A couple of weeks ago, he started showing symptoms; mostly not wanting to eat or eating very little.  And when Clyde doesn't want food, you KNOW something is going on.  He'd had a similar bout with a gall bladder infection a year and a half ago but this time he didn't respond to the antibiotics.  He began having trouble breathing and lost control of his muscles.  When I got him to the emergency room, he was pretty shocky and Dr Todd said all the money in the world wouldn't ease his pain.  He had a large mass in his abdomen, his spleen had ruptured, and he was bleeding internally.  It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but I hugged him, said goodbye to him, and I gave him to God.

Things are looking up mom!
Just give me that cookie!
A One "Basset Hound" open sleigh???

Clyde had such a great voice
and loved to sing!

And don't ever let anyone tell you that Basset Hounds
are dumb!  Clyde was about the smartest dog around.
He could train a human to pet him in continuously without
them even realizing that he was the one in control!

The Water Dance:  I tried to get it on video, but was never quite able to capture the moment, but here is my best attempt...  Clyde hated water.  He disliked it so much that he would hold off getting a drink of water until he just couldn't stand it anymore.  Then after he would get a huge drink, he'd turn around, run full speed across the house, and dive face first into the rug while making some very strange groaning noises at the same time.  He would get all fiesty and roll around like he was trying to get the water off of him.  He would groan, bark, and roll around on the floor like a goofball each and every time he drank water, got a bath, had his ears cleaned...  Anything to do with water.  A friend of ours dubbed this behavior as the "water dance".

Clyde as a young man.  This was
when we first got him.  He was 4 years
old and was given up by his previous
owner because he was "getting goofy".
